Thank you to those who joined us for August’s “Let’s talk with Jonathan” livestream! We’ve compiled answers to the questions Jonathan flagged for further follow-up below. We also recorded every product feature suggestion and request mentioned during the session; these have been shared directly with our team for consideration.
August Q&A responses
Below are detailed responses to the questions Jonathan flagged for follow-up during the livestream.
Question: Is there a way to update claim status in the Billing-Claims tab when denied? Even after the claim is worked and marked as worked in the patient's account, it still shows as a big red alert on the claims filed list. Thanks!!
Response: An insurance payment that covers the full appointment fee across client responsibility, insurance paid, and write-off can be added. This will update the claim to paid.
Question: Is there a way to add the clients' "sex" on the initial create client page?
Response: Thank you for the question, this is currently not a feature we have. Below we have linked the associated user feedback submission. We encourage you to go and upvote it.
Question: Is there a way to get the little red triangles back when info is missing in order to submit a claim ? That was super helpful to be able to hover, and see what is missing
Response: The "missing info" warning has been moved to the individual dates of service. When expanding a client's appointments, the missing info badges will appear.
August product feedback & feature requests
The following features were requested during the livestream. Each suggestion has been logged in our internal feedback system and will be reviewed by our product and engineering teams as we continue to shape the future of SimplePractice.
Feature request: Would SimplePractice consider adding customizable client flags visible to both clinicians and billers/admin? For example: outstanding balance, new credit card needed, Medicaid, EAP, or other practice-specific alerts. This would greatly improve internal communication and tracking.
Feature request: Can we please have alerts for inactive client's past 30/60/90 days ?
Feature request: May we please have the option of a calendar with a Monday start?
Feature request: would love a way to add an administrator account that has limited client visibility. Right now, we would have to open every current client's privacy settings to hide their account from said administrator. example: supervisees outside our group practice, clinician's advisor, admin assigned to manage one clinician's schedule, etc.
Feature request: A way to upload an EOB from a payment that is manual, so there is a record of the payment in the system. This also relates to billing secondary: When a manual payment report has been entered, the information should be transferred over automatically like in an electronic payment report.
Feature request: It would be helpful to be able to rearrange the Location of service list easily without having to delete and start over.
Feature request: Recurring appointments: it would be helpful "visually" when looking at the calendar for a clinician with an icon or ability to change the color.
Feature request: Would love to see a calendar view that shows billing status. Paid, unpaid, bill, denied etc
Feature request: A way to separate client and clinician messaging within the portal messaging tab.
Feature request: Would SimplePractice consider adding customizable client flags visible to both clinicians and billers/admin? For example: outstanding balance, new credit card needed, Medicaid, EAP, or other practice-specific alerts. This would greatly improve internal communication and tracking.
Feature request: As a therapist who sees clients in several states and internationally, I work in multiple time zones. I appreciate that you have added a second time zone to the calendar, but it isn't sufficient for my work, so I am constantly having to calculate time zones in my head. Are there any plans to add more time zones?
