Dr. HerMaya Onunwor, DSW, LISW-S, commonly known professionally as “Dr. Her,” is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervisory Designation in the state of Ohio. She is a behavioral health technology professional with experience spanning across hospitals, courts, schools, social service organizations, private practice, and behavioral health technology. A triple-degreed social worker, she earned her BSW from the University of Cincinnati, MSW from Case Western Reserve University, and DSW in Administrative Leadership from the University of Kentucky, where her doctoral work explored the intersection of technology and ethical clinical practice. Prior to joining SimplePractice, she served as Vice President of Clinical Compliance at a behavioral health technology company, leading work across clinical quality, ethics, regulatory compliance, and provider standards related to clinical supervision. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about ensuring clinicians have a voice in the development and implementation of technology that impacts clinical practice. She remains connected to the field through private practice, clinical supervision, consulting, and teaching in the University of Kentucky’s DSW program. Today, she brings this combination of clinical practice, compliance leadership, and behavioral health technology experience to her role as Clinical Operations Lead at SimplePractice, supporting the responsible development of technology and AI.
